We have been entrusted with managing Wilko’s sale of plant, machinery and assets from the iconic 93-year-old retail empire, at the distribution centres in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, and Newport, Wales.
The online auction features a diverse range of items, including recycling and handling equipment, waste compactors, conveyor systems, and even IT and photographic studios. The closure of all 400 UK Wilko stores, sadly culminating in the recent shutdown of the final 41 outlets, has led to the redundancy of nearly all 12,500 employees.
We are not only auctioning off equipment but also pallet racking from both distribution centres. With keen interest already from high street retailers and logistics companies, the auctioneer aims to secure optimal outcomes for these assets amid challenging circumstances.
Charles Loake, associate director and joint head of John Pye Business & Property, expressed his admiration for the Wilko staff, highlighting their support throughout the asset removal and sale processes. Despite the sombre situation, the auctioneer is committed to honouring Wilko’s strong reputation as a beloved high-street retailer.
