At John Pye Auctions, we have launched John Pye Technical to repair and refurbish consumer electrical products for retail clients. John Pye Technical will be the sixth division to join our existing portfolio.
Following a large increase in client demand for electronic product repair and refurbishment within the John Pye business group, we created John Pye Technical in order to offer technical warranty and refurbishment services to commercial clients and also customers on selected products. The new division will be based at our flagship West Midlands Auction Hub in Marchington, Staffs.
The technical division will be led by head of department, David Harper, who recently joined the firm and brings a wealth of experience and expertise as qualified electronics engineer whose career has spanned forty years in the repair and refurbishment industry. David will lead a highly skilled support team of seven staff, including experienced engineers with a combined experience of over 100 years. He will be responsible for running the division and driving growth with plans to roll out technical services across all of our UK Hubs.
Adam Pye, Managing Director at John Pye said: “As a business, we continually strive to innovate and to offer our clients and customers services and solutions that make a real difference.
“Creating John Pye Technical is a natural step for us to bring specialist technical services under the John Pye umbrella. With his extensive background in the technical industry, David is the ideal person to lead the department and I welcome him to the John Pye family.
“David will be driving the department forward to achieve our vision of John Pye Technical becoming the UK’s biggest service centre for consumer electronic products in the next five years. We see no reason why our technical skills in the UK can’t extend to our clients across the globe in the future.”
The John Pye Technical Lab will deliver a multi-faceted technical services environment providing administration, customer services, product triage, product inspection, technical repairs and data erasure, and has a capacity for 60 engineers. It will offer warranties dependent on product profile and client. Parts and labour warranty options will include one, three, six- and twelve-month options.
David Harper said: “I’m honoured to be heading up the new technical division at John Pye; a rapidly expanding and ambitious family business with big plans for the future. This new department challenges the traditional auction business model, and John Pye is the UK’s only auctioneer to offer such a diverse range and type of technical services.
“As well as acting as a service provider on behalf of clients for the warranty and refurbishment of goods, we will offer retail technical support and services to end consumers, meeting the ever-increasing demand for these specialist services.”
John Pye Technical is the latest division to be added to John Pye Auction’s extensive and impressive portfolio of departments alongside John Pye Property, John Pye Retail, John Pye Business Assets, John Pye Vehicles and John Pye Luxury.
Last year, we made history when the business was crowned Asset Valuer/Auctioneer of the Year at the TRI Awards 2018 for the fourth consecutive year. The business has also just completed its first ever overseas auction held in Arjman in the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East toward the end of 2018, which was a great success.
At John Pye Auctions, we also celebrated our 50th Anniversary in 2018 and to mark this milestone birthday, we celebrated a record trading year. Our firm has grown faster than any other European auction business in the last seven years, expanding from just 1 site to 22 and growing staff from 80 full-time team members to over 430. Annual auction frequency also significantly increased from 80 to over 1,000 in 2018.
