Make sure you know the size of the piece you are after.
The measurements in our descriptions are there to help you to sort through which lots are right for you. However if you are unsure of your ring size, assistance with this can be offered at our viewing events.
For chains and necklaces, think about where you want the chain and pendant to sit. Here is a rough guide to lengths:
|Length (inches)||Length (cm)||Where the piece will sit|
|18||45 - 46||Décolleté|
Gain an idea of the Gemstones you are after
Birthstones, anniversary stones, favourite colours, and fashion trends can all affect the type and colour of gemstone you may be interested in. If you are after a piece to wear daily, try and think about the colours of gemstones that will complement, and not clash with the rest of your collection.
Consider the type of gemstone you are after. More fragile gemstones, such as opals, tanzanites and zircon, work better in necklaces and earrings as they are less likely to be knocked when worn than when set in a ring or a bracelet. Softer stones are liable to scratch over time especially through continued wear, so consider this when looking for a ring that will be worn daily. Tougher stones, such as diamond, sapphire, topaz and quartz can withstand higher levels of wear and so are good choices for everyday jewellery.
