In a recent pole in Esquire magazine the Cartier Ballon Bleu, Tank Francaise and Ronde Solo all ranked in the top 10 most popular luxury watch on the resale market in 2015.
This rang true in the recent watch sale held by John Pye Auctions’ Luxury Assets division on behalf of a key corporate client. The auction was showcased and sold at John Pye’s saleroom on Mayfair’s Bond Street where the Gents Cartier Ballon Bleu caught the attention of many, and achieved a respectable £5,100 on the day.
The extensive range of Cartier Tank Francaise watches on offer also followed suit with both woman’s and men’s models selling well. With the common misconception that automatic watches are preferred over the quartz movement, it was a great result for the Cartier Roaster, Panthere and Tanks who all achieved hammer prices well over their estimate.
Cartier was established in 1847 by founder Louis Francois Cartier, and is known for producing classic timepieces that have withstood the test of time, both in innovative design and craftsmanship. Establishing a longstanding popularity with both Royalty and celebrities, their watches have regularly adorned the likes of Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise and Princess Caroline of Monaco.
It is often thought that Cartier watches popularity is on the decline, but with the success of this luxury watch auction it is clear to see that the prestigious Cartier Watch brand remains a strong contender for modern society.
John Pye Auctions’ Luxury Assets department was proud to present such a wonderful array of Cartier watches, attracting a great deal of female attention and following a market trend showing an increase in women’s purchasing power for branded luxury watches.
