Adding images to pages and stories

Posted in Open source

Adding images to a web page takes several steps:

  1. Upload the image to a folder on the website
  2. Link it to a position within the text and the page
  3. Add alternate text to display if the image isn’t visible
  4. Add styling to control its display size, border and text flow around it

All these steps can be initiated through the text input screen. Click on the Insert/edit image button to open a pop up dialogue box. If you happen to know the url of the image required, type it into the box.

Open Source software

Posted in Open source

Open source software is a co-operative endeavour that is available for everyone to use without payment of royalties. I both use and contribute to open source projects.

The 'Open source' section of this website includes notes on some aspects of the open source software that I use in my work. It includes notes for users and information that may help people who are new to the applications.

When you add content, you must give your item a title and a body.

Title

Type the title into the title box. It appears in plain text on the input screen, but once your item is published, it will be displayed in the appropriate title style for the site or section where it appears.
